One of the largest bird refuges in the United States, the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, lies in the western part of Box Elder County, Utah. Twenty miles to the east lay the northern reaches of the Wasatch Front- Part of Utah’s Great Rocky Mountains. Along the foothills of the Front lay many small and not- so -small towns and cities. Salt Lake City lies fifty miles to the south. Brigham City, Perry, and Willard are vaguely noticeable spots in this picture taken from one of the many wetland marshes of the bird refuge.
